Get out written and directed by Jordan Peele makes his debut with the incredibly smart move to cast this story about racism. It's the story of a black man who goes to his white girlfriend's parent's house to attend a family function. But is it just a family occasion?
The movie is brilliantly written and spine-chilling and will leave you asking for more.
THE SIXTH SENSE

No plot twist movie list can be complete without the mention of this classic supernatural horror-thriller film written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. The film tells the story of a troubled, isolated boy who can see and talk to the dead, and a child psychologist who tries to help him. The movie is a treat to the eyes with Shyamalan's incredible direction and remarkable acting by the cast.
SPLIT

Another smart, clever and satisfying horror thriller movie from M. Night Shyamalan. It's about a man with multiple personalities (aka dissociative identity disorder) who kidnaps young girls.
Though Split doesn't qualify as a conventional horror movie, it will leave you scared and stunned. If you are a fan of a creatively written story, this one is for you.

One of the smartest and most terrifying movies of recent times, written by Simon Barrett, and directed by Adam Wingard. A wealthy couple invites their family for their wedding anniversary celebrations, which come under attack by a gang of mysterious killers.
You're Next doesn't fail in keeping the audience in the dark about the true nature of the brutal home invasion, before dragging them to the disturbing and satisfying ending.

A devout religious mother of two ailing children, who suffer from a rare photosensitivity disease that renders them extremely vulnerable to sunlight, has moved with her family to a mansion while awaiting her husband's return from World War II, though he has been declared missing.

SAW

Saw is a horror film directed by James Wan and written by Leigh Whannell. It provides the thrill and gore that you would expect it to. It is the first film in the successful franchise of saw films. Though the subsequent sequels and prequels couldn't hold up, this one is worth the watch.
PSYCHO

If you haven't already watched this cult horror movie, you shouldn't waste any more time. Directed by the genius director Alfred Hitchcock, the movie starts with a woman who works as a secretary who goes on a run after stealing from her employer's client and checks into a remote motel run by a young man, Norman Bates.
IPsycho is considered a must-watch movie in a lifetime by many critics and audiences and it's surely worth the praise and hype. The famous shower scene will haunt you forever though!
US

Like Jordan Peele's previous horror film, Get Out, it’s a social investigation of America as much as nail-biting horror. A black woman and her family are attacked by mysterious figures dressed in red attires. As the movie progresses, the Wilsons realize that the intruders are exact lookalikes like them. What does that signify? Sounds creepy right? It is indeed.
THE UNINVITED

Adapted from the Korean psychological horror film, The Tale of Two Sisters, it is one of the most underrated movies of recent times. A young girl returns home after being discharged from a mental hospital, but her recovery is jeopardized by her cruel stepmother and visions of her dead mother.
If you are here for a plot twist, it will give you an unbelievable one.
HUSH

Who doesn't love a good home intrusion film? Hush will not disappoint you and will make you pray for the character's survival. The movie starts with a deaf and mute writer who relocates to a solitary region and is faced with a masked intruder. How will she save herself?
THE ORPHANAGE

A woman brings her family back to her childhood home, which used to be an orphanage, with the intent of reopening it. Not long enough, her son starts to communicate with a new invisible friend. If you are ready for some spooky and unsettling fun, tune into it.
THE MIST

The Mist is a horror film based on a novel by Stephen King. Need I say more? Survivors are trapped in a supermarket after a strange mist wipes out much of their town. They are forced to fend off a wave of deadly creatures which kill anyone that comes in their path.
If you love watching dark themes and visual efforts go for it.
A QUIET PLACE

One of the most inventive and original movies of the decade directed by John Krasinski, A Quiet Place introduces us to the Abbot family and how their world was turned upside down when blind extraterrestrial monsters invaded the earth. These aliens have super-sensitive hearing, the remaining population is forced to speak in whispers or communicate using sign language.
This is one alien horror movie that you don't want to miss. It's intriguing and captivating till the end.
DON'T LOOK NOW

Don't Look Now is a 1973 film in the horror-thriller genre directed by Nicolas Roeg, and adapted from the short story by Daphne du Maurier. The hero of the movie is a rational man who does not believe in psychics, omens, or the afterlife until he encounters two elderly sisters, one of whom is psychic, and brings a warning from beyond. A must-watch indeed.
